AIL 520: AI Risk, Ethics, Governance, and Compliance

This course prepares students to identify, assess, and manage the organizational risks introduced by AI systems across the lifecycle, from design and procurement to deployment and monitoring. Students explore ethical principles, bias and fairness concerns, privacy and security requirements, transparency and explainability, and documentation practices that support accountability. The course also addresses governance structures such as policies, oversight committees, model risk management, vendor due diligence, and compliance alignment with relevant laws and standards. Students gain the ability to recommend controls and governance practices that enable trustworthy, compliant AI use at scale.
