Newberry College issues each student a unique identifier number at the time of application. This ID # follows the student throughout their enrollment. It does not change, so it serves as one method of validation. Upon acceptance, the student self-selects a unique password that allows protected access to Jenzabar, the college's information management system and course management system.
At the time of enrollment, the student is given a unique email address and self-selects a unique password that protects access to the email account. Students who log into Jenzabar or to their email account provide assurances to faculty of their identity for online courses.
Newberry College requires identity verification to help protect students, the College, and federal/state financial aid programs from identity theft and financial-aid fraud. Students are responsible for providing their complete and true identity information in any identification verification process. At this time there are no additional student fees associated with student verification.
Newberry College may authenticate student identities through a combination of the following methods:
1. Pedadogical and related practices that are effective in verifying student identity
2. Third party vendors that provide robust identity verification or proctoring software services
3. Other technologies approved by the University that have been shown to be effective in verifying student identification
