Program Learning Outcomes:
1. Students will demonstrate an understanding of foundational science concepts for exercise science in the courses of anatomy and physiology, chemistry, biology, and physics.
2. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the interactions between nutritional concepts, health across the lifespan and its impact on health, disease, disorders and physical activity, exercise and sport performance.
3. Students will be able to analyze an individual's preparedness for participation in physical activity and exercise based on health and skill-related definitions of fitness and physical preparedness.
4. Students will be able to design and implement exercise and physical activity protocols for individuals as well as those in athletic and clinical populations utilizing qualitative and quantitative data for cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness, flexibility, and body composition.
5. Students will understand the interaction and adaptations between the form and function of the human body during movement by applying exercise technology and equipment.
6. Students will demonstrate an appropriate level of independence, judgment, and professionalism necessary for successful employment or continuing education in accordance with their professional goals.
7. Students will engage in the process of science through hypothesis design, physical testing, modeling, and/or simulations.

Requirements for the Major in Exercise Science (not including General Education Core courses)

Must earn a C or better in EXS 110, BIO 215, BIO 216, EXS 343, EXS 430, EXS 491, EXS 492.
