Master of Arts in Criminal Justice

The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice is an interdisciplinary program that combines the principles and practices of criminal justice with the principles and practices of leadership. It focuses on the development of leadership skills and abilities that are relevant to the criminal justice profession, such as communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution. The program is designed to prepare criminal justice practitioners, those at a crossroads in their careers, and those in intersectional careers with leadership skills and knowledge of the demands and dynamic changes in the Criminal Justice field.

CRJ 400: Professional Ethics in Criminal Justice

This course will present the fundamentals of ethical behavior as it relates to the American criminal justice system. Classical and contemporary ethical theories will be applied to the discussion of such issues as discretion, corruption, use of force, racism, deception, professionalism, and the nature and meaning of justice.

CRJ 513: Criminal Jurisprudence

Credits 3

This course examines the complex concepts, foundations, and principles of the constitution and substantive criminal law and criminal procedure from a historical perspective to today. Supreme Court Jurisprudence will be compared and contrasted with State Court Jurisprudence.
