A survey of the foundations of mathematical thought and methods from the ancients to modern day and of the historical influence of mathematical ideas in the fields of science, technology, philosophy, architecture, and art. This course will provide both historical knowledge and an appreciation of the role of mathematics in the development of modern society. This course is open to any student who has satisfied their Math [MAT] core curriculum requirement.
