Admission Requirements - RN-to-BSN Completion track
- Active RN license in South Carolina
- Graduate of an accredited associate degree or diploma in a nursing program
- Current employment in a nursing role
- A “C” or higher in each of the following 7 prerequisite courses (although statistics can be deferred):
- ENG-1 & ENG-2: Freshman Composition /Intro to Literature Research, 2 semesters (6 credits total)
- BIO-1 & BIO-2: Human Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2, 2 semesters, or 1 semester of Human Anatomy & 1 semester of Human Physiology (8 credits total)
- BIO-3: Microbiology (3 or 4 credits)
- MAT: Statistics (3 credits) (must be completed before taking NUR 471)
- SPE: Public Speaking (3 credits)
Requirements for Graduation - RN-to-BSN Completion track
- Complete all required Prerequisite (BIO, ENG, MAT, and SPE) and Nursing (NUR) courses with a minimum grade of “C” in each course.
- Maintain an active RN license in South Carolina every semester.
- Repeat no more than one (1) required Nursing (NUR) course in which a grade below “C” was earned for a maximum of one (1) time only.
- Complete all current Core, Residence, and GPA requirements as stated in the Newberry College Catalog.

a. Identify the characteristics of a profession and the components of professional nursing practice.
b. Examine your personal strengths and weaknesses related to returning to school.
2. Theoretical Bases of Nursing Practice
a. Differentiate several “borrowed” theories frequently used in nursing.
b. Explore the 4 metaparadigm concepts common to all nursing theories.
c. Discuss common conceptual models and theories used in nursing practice.
3. The Neuman Systems Model and My Personal Philosophy of Nursing
a. Explain the components of the Neuman Systems Model.
b. Complete Neuman Action Circle(s) based on case studies.
c. Draft a personal philosophy of professional nursing.
4. Holistic Care, Evidence-Based Practice, & Critical Thinking in Nursing
a. Differentiate several health and illness models in nursing practice.
b. Discuss the impact of cultural differences on nursing practice.
c. Identify the components of EBP.

Requirements for the BSN in Nursing (not including General Education Core)
