Master of Arts in Criminal Justice

This course will present the fundamentals of ethical behavior as it relates to the American criminal justice system. Classical and contemporary ethical theories will be applied to the discussion of such issues as discretion, corruption, use of force, racism, deception, professionalism, and the nature and meaning of justice.

This course critically examines race, gender, class, religion, and other diversity topics within the U.S. criminal justice system. Topics of emphasis include the importance of diversity issues in the development, organization, and operation of the criminal justice system.

This course explores and synthesizes criminological theories and research to explain crimes in modern society.

This course examines the complex concepts, foundations, and principles of the constitution and substantive criminal law and criminal procedure from a historical perspective to today. Supreme Court Jurisprudence will be compared and contrasted with State Court Jurisprudence.

This course explores the Juvenile Justice system's history, laws, and process with a focus on necessary reforms, emerging case law, and rehabilitation of America's youth.

This course examines various mental health disorders and the role of the courtroom workgroup and the courts in treatment.
